Windows 2012 start menu via RDP
There is a thing about virtual RDP sessions on a Windows Server 2012 which really bugs me:
You can’t easily go to open the start menu with the mouse.
(Except you have the latest update of Server 2012 with the start button)
To me accessing the Windows start menu always has to happen at the lower left side of the screen. With Windows 8.1 and Windows 2012 R2 the start button returned. With it you can also easily run Windows remote. But there isn’t 2012 R2 on any machine yet.
I am using Remote Desktop Connection Manager for the administration of my RDP sessions.
For that reason I cannot just move the cursor down as I would thus leave the virtual desktop and get to my client desktop.
Shortkeys to access start menu
Alt + Pos1 + End | accesses the start menu during a RDP session |
Ctrl + Alt + End | to lock, sign out, access task manager and change a password |
